Lovely decorative Syrup Pitcher made by Hermod & Jaccard of Saint Louis, Mo., this is especially dear to me as it has May engraved on the very front, amids the floral engravings that wrap around the sides. Dating to the aesthetic movement period, the pitcher has a lovely, elegant shape, with a fluted scalloped top, a fine handle, and flowers on both sides. The photographs highlight the wear, while she is not perfect, in "real life" this is a wonderful antique piece.

Billing itself as "The Grandest Jewelry Establishment in the World" in Saint Louis, Mo., Hermod & Jaccard opened satelitte locations in Paris, London, Vienna and Birmingham in the late 1800's. They were manufacturers of jewelry {renowned for their diamond rings}, sterling silver, and quadruple plated silver pieces for the home. This May pitcher was no doubt engraved with the owner's name long ago, now, it is a sweet harbinger of Spring! Measures 5" h x 5~1/2" x 4~1/2".
