Antique French Ormolu Religious Crown Tiara, with faceted stones meant to resemble diamonds, rubies, and emeralds set in a decorative gilt metal crown. The crown originates from Paris and dates towards 1860. This is a full sized crown, intended to grace statue of the Virgin Mary. The scrolling frame is formed from gilded brass and was fashioned by a fine craftsman in a Parisian atelier which specialized in beautiful religious adornments.
The gilded bronze body is heavy with an intricate 'cisele' or hand-cut embellishment. A single row of bezel set clear stones make up the band which rests on the head of the Madonna, the rest of the collectible crown is embellished with Red & Green stones in varying sizes. The crown itself is a true work of art, gilded scrolls form a wide and elegant design. Two clear stones were removed long ago to wire the crown to the head of the Madonna in the cathedral.
