Antique White Baby Christening Card, a tiny treasure from days past for the collector of fine ephemera. Presented in a box, cards like this were given at a Christening or Birth in the early 1900's to 1920's, as a souvenir of the Christening Day. Truly spectacular, this has been loved and so well kept all these years by a collector.
Beautifully hand made in Germany, on the front French Scrim and Silk Braid surrounds a tiny Wax Baby. Silver Dresden embellishes this further, as does the Gold embossing. Card back is an Embossed Envelope, Godparents or other family member or close friend generally added a personal note and a monetary gift.
The Box has plenty of wear and damage, but it has done its job of keeping the treasure inside dirt and wear free. Measures 4~3/4" x 2~7/8" {box}, Card measures 4~1/4" x 2~7/8".
